“You're crazy ?”: €23,000 a bottle in a nightclub, Simone Biles targeted by an attempted scam after the Paris 2024 Olympics

American gymnast Simone Biles said on TikTok that a Parisian nightclub asked her for more than $26,000 (23,000 euros) for a bottle of champagne.

While she won three gold medals and one silver at the 2024 Paris Olympics, the American gymnastics legend went out clubbing after the closing ceremony on Sunday, August 11.

“Are you crazy”?”

Inside the nightclub, the vendors will ask the gymnast to pay for a simple bottle of champagne for the modest sum of 26,000 dollars. Biles then clarifies that she didn't fall for the trick: “Of course, I didn't buy it.”

The athlete didn't specify the name of the nightclub even though she was angry with the owners for trying to scam her: “Why did you do that ?” she asks in her TikTok video.

Between this story and the atmosphere “weird and awkward" during her beam final at the Bercy Arena, a few minor mishaps marred Simone Biles' stay in Paris, and she nevertheless left with four new trinkets in her suitcase.
