ZEvent 2024: Zerator announces the grand return of the video game charity marathon in September in Montpellier

After a year of absence in 2023, the charity event Zevent is making its big comeback from September 6 to 8, 2024, at the Zénith in Montpellier. In a Twitch live, streamer and founder Zerator reveals what's new.

This Sunday, August 4, streamer Zerator announced the return of ZEvent live on Twitch, and thanks to a trailer video on Youtube. For two days, the Montpellier streamer has been building suspense: “Big announcement + explanations tomorrow at 8 p.m. on Twitch”. The charity event will take place from September 6 to 8, 2024, at the Zénith in Montpellier.

Stop precariousness

Since 2017, streamers have been gathering in Montpellier to raise money. The concept: playing video games live to collect donations from "viewers". The last two editions also offered a charity concert the day before the event. In 2021 and 2022, ZEvent generated more than 10 million donations.

“This year, the event will help associations to fight against precariousness, poverty in general, national, but not only", explains Zerator. The funds will be donated to five associations: Le secours populaire français, Cop 1 – solidarity étudiante, Chapitre 2, Bureaux du cœur and solidarité paysans.

What's new

In 2022, 61 streamers connected to Twitch from the Zénith room. The 2024 edition will only bring together 36 in Montpellier, including the famous YouTubers Le joueur du grenier, Domingo and Baghera Jones. Don't worry, more than a hundred participants will join the online event, with associated prize pools.

In his Twitch live, the founder reveals his ambitions:“In the future we would like ZEvent to be an event open to all and for everyone to be able to collect money for the kitty. This is a first year of testing this new format. That's why we only put a hundred, because technically we're not yet able to do it infinitely.

A highly anticipated return

Since the announcement of its return, #ZEVENT was third in the French trending tops this Monday afternoon, with more than 11,000 posts on the social network X, formerly Twitter. The reason ? Zerator had announced a break in September 2023 after several controversies.

The behavior of some participants had been deemed sexist by the public. The choice of the beneficiary of the donations in 2022, Goodplanet, had hammered the final nail. The organizers had finally donated the donations to four other organizations.

"We discussed a lot, thought a lot during this year, where we didn't do a ZEvent. But this year we're back, with new features", shouts with joy Zerator on Twitch. The Z/place and the Zplays are obviously still there. Fans of video games and ZEvent will understand…
