Since Friday evening, around thirty streamers gathered around Montpellier native Adrien Nougaret, aka Zerator, have been multiplying events on Twitch to call for donations in favor of five associations fighting against precariousness. Objective: to exceed the sum of 10 M€ by Sunday evening.
It was almost 9pm this Saturday, September 7, when the streamers gathered in Montpellier around Adrien Nougaret let out a new cry of joy. A little over 24 hours after the launch of ZEvent 2024, this charity video game marathon, they managed to raise 2 million euros of donations, at the end of a first day marked by numerous challenges broadcast on the Twitch channel.
The money, Sunday evening, will go to five associations that fight against precariousness: the Secours Populaire, the Bureaux du Cœur, which allows homeless people to be welcomed in business premises when they are unoccupied, Solidarité Paysans, which supports farmers and their families, Chapitre 2, which promotes the integration of young people in difficulty and Cop 1, which helps students. The goal, at the end of the 50 hours of live broadcast on Sunday evening, will be to beat the record of the previous edition, a little over 10 million euros. Since 2016, the year of the first edition broadcast from… Zerator's garage, the winnings have continued to rise.

“We're 1 hour and 42 minutes behind two years ago, we need to get moving”, reacted one of the Internet users to the announcement of this 2 million euro milestone. It's true, but streamers are working extra hard to increase the prize pool, like Samuel Etienne, the presenter of “Questions pour un champion” on France 3, who has been a streamer for a few years and is in Montpellier this Saturday evening to offer a “Questions pour un streamer” challenge. The prize pool immediately skyrocketed.
The event is getting people talking and attracting celebrities. This Saturday, it was the singer BigFlo, from the duo BigFlo & Oli, who joined the small group to call for donations.

At 10pm this Saturday night, the amount reached 2.75 million euros. The 3 million euro mark should be crossed very quickly… and perhaps even, during the night, the 5 million euro mark. Follow live, until Sunday evening, on the ZEvent website.
