The winner of the competition, organized this Saturday March 16, 2024, is a Charolais cross Aubrac from Gaec Forestier de Naussac.

One hundred and fifty cows registered for 137 present, 40 breeders from Lozère and Haute-Loire, buyers from all over the region, notably from Gard and Aveyron, around twenty traders and craftsmen exponents… The organizers of the 41st Langogne Grasse Fair this Saturday March 16 were able to congratulate themselves on this remarkable edition in every way with, as a bonus, spring weather.

The winner of the competition is a Charolais cross Aubrac from Gaec Forestier de Naussac, grazing most of the time in the meadows bordering the lake. It was sold at 16.50 €/kg. It will go to the Bompard butchery, in Anduze, after particularly lively auctions since the starting price was 7 €/kg.

The three other prize-winning animals were a limousine from Gaec de Drevet, in Pradelles, sent to Ruthène Viandes, in Rodez, at the price of 7.90 €/kg ; an Aubrac cross heifer still from Gaec Drevet, still purchased by the Bompard butchery in Anduze, at 9 €/kg; an Aubrac from Gaec Élevage Maurin, purchased by the Langogne supermarket at the price of €9.10/kg. Prices which demonstrate to what extent local breeders are doing well in the face of competition.

"Little by little, a national reputation"

"I came to support agriculture in the region and I do not miss an opportunity when I am with my fellow senators to praise the merits of our beef sector which structures an entire economic and commercial network, starting with by the Langogne slaughterhouse, proclaims Senator Guylène Pantel. This fair, unique in the region, is a highlight and is gradually acquiring a national reputation."

The breeder Julien Tuffery, accustomed to top prizes, never misses this event: "This year, there is quality and quantity. The new layout of the barnums allows for both better circulation and better visibility."

On the sidelines of the awards ceremony, organizer Quentin Boyer took the opportunity to thank the Young Farmers, the City and the traders, as well as Jean-François Collange, on the microphone to replace the & rsquo;host Robert Berthuit.
