2024 Legislative Elections: “I simply encourage votes against the National Rally”, volleyball player Earvin Ngapeth launches an appeal

Earvin Ngapeth, star of the French volleyball team, declared Thursday "to encourage votes against the National Rally" three days before the first round of early legislative elections which plunge France into a period of great political uncertainty.

"I simply encourage votes against the National Rally, which conveys ideas, values, principles that are not mine&quot ;, argued Ngapeth. "The France that I love is a France where everyone mixes, inside and out. image of our team which will compete in the Olympic Games and within which we give joy to the French", he said.

The 33-year-old is the leader of the Blues who will defend their Olympic title won three years ago in Tokyo at the Paris Games (July 26-August 11). On the occasion of this major event, he wanted to apply to be standard bearer of the French delegation at the opening ceremony.

Future flag bearer ?

"It seemed important to me to represent French volleyball in this way, after all these years of fighting to occupy an important place in French sport" , he explained.

Ngapeth, who is currently recovering from a calf injury, will not participate from Friday in the final phase of the League of Nations which takes place in Lodz in Poland, final rehearsal before the Olympics. Without him, France will try to beat reigning world champion Italy to reach the semi-final.
