Volleyball: on the leader's floor, Arago de Sète was not that far from the mark
|It was close for the Sétois to return to the Singular Island with at least one point. FREE NOON – Jérôme Belluire
The Sétois, beaten 3-1 at Chaumont this Saturday February 17, missed the boat in the third set.
They started well, marked time in the second set then, in the third, fought a duel which, more or less, could have allowed them to lead 1-2. Saturday evening, the Sète volleyball players were not far from the lead.« We existed until halfway through the fourth set », declares Luc Marquet. « But Chaumont, confident and at home, then pressed. One less fault, one ball placed on the ground, and this third set was ours. Knowing the Chaumont context well, I knew that they were not at their best. We managed to bring out their sharp point, to mishandle their best "attack-receiving"… It’s a shame, if we had taken this point, it would have brought us closer to the playoffs. »
Stay engaged
Returning with empty pockets, Arago therefore remains in eleventh place, six points behind Paris (8th). Five days before the end of the regular phase, and with a few dangerous matches to play, the window is getting smaller and smaller.
But hope is still there and mobilization must be kept at its maximum. « Immediately after the match, there were inevitably regrets, disappointment. We are looking for the detail that we missed », continues the Sète coach. « But if we produce play like that next Sunday, we can put in a solid performance against Saint-Jean-d’Illac at Le Barrou. Returning to Sète with one or more points would have enhanced the guys' performance, it's tough but I don't think it affected the group's confidence. You shouldn't. There are only a few games left, we must stay mobilized. Maybe that's my fear… We must absolutely not give up because it is possible that the last match, in Paris, will be decisive. »
You'll have to take it step by step. It already starts with a victory, this Sunday, February 25 at home (5 p.m.).
