Ligue 1: in Marseille, Montpellier lacked a little of everything to avoid disaster

Montpellier lost heavily to Marseille (4-1) on Sunday at the Stade Vélodrome during the 23rd day of Ligue 1, despite Tamari's opening goal.

Montpellier had nevertheless started their meeting well. Opportunistic on a missed restart, Tamari placed a header out of Lopez's reach to open the scoring. In the next 10 minutes, Ferri smashed Lopez's left post and the rebound off the Marseille goalkeeper's back ended up in a corner and not in the goal.

After that…Montpellier fell back, suffered the Marseille attacks and the Hérault counterattacks were not sharp and precise enough to make the break. What followed was the inevitable, the equalization of OM. Then Marseille continued to push and find the fault.

Montpellier remains tied with the play-off, Lorient, but three of its rivals for maintenance won this weekend. Mandatory result against Strasbourg next weekend.
