Vendredi 22 mars, un ferry de la compagnie Corsica Linea a pu effectuer son ravitaillement électrique à quai sur le Môle Masselin. La phase de tests se poursuivra jusqu'en septembre sur le port de Sète.
It was a first. And it is successful. This Friday, March 22, the port of Sète carried out, in real conditions, its very first electrical connection test at the quay. It was the Jean Nicoli, from the Corsica Linea company, who benefited from it. Coming from Algiers, the ferry fed on the Môle Masselin before returning to sea.
This was just the start of a series of other connection tests. Around thirty stopovers by the company will take place between June and September. The increase in power will continue over the months: first during the second half of 2024 with the dockside connection of certain DFDS ports of call with regular connections, from Turkey, then current ;nbsp;2025 with the connection of the ferries of the shipowner GNV.
A final step in 2027 for cruise ships
Equipped with four electrical connections on three of its quays since last December, the port of Sète has planned a final phase in its electrification project. This will take place in 2027 with the connection of the quays receiving cruise ships.
This will be three years before the deadline imposed by Europe, which will make the electrical connection of ships at quay compulsory.
