A 31-year-old man appeared in court this Thursday for possession of narcotics. 300 kg of “weed”. The concentration of THC in the product was the subject of a long debate before the criminal court.

" From the cultivation of strawberries to hemp, there is only one step, recalled the prosecutor this Thursday afternoon before the Nîmes criminal court before which a farmer from Beaucaire appeared for having cultivated hemp to extract CBD. The case gave rise to an investigation and a seizure on November 19, 2023. In total, 300 kg of hemp were seized and gave rise to a procedure for possession of narcotics. Laboratory analyzes confirmed that the concentration of THC in hemp exceeded legal thresholds and that the product should be considered narcotics. Facing President Edouard Le Jan, the defendant indicated that he had grown this product because it was possible to sow it after the strawberry harvest. The prosecution argued the case at length and methodically, considering that the products were indeed narcotics. But the representative of the public ministry left it to the court to assess a possible conviction. The defense lawyer, Me Metton (Paris) considered that the acquittal was necessary in particular with regard to the rates of the products placing this hemp at a legal level. Deliberation in progress.
