According to information from our colleagues at BFMTV, the French composer and musician Marc Cerrone will be one of the artists announced for the ceremony ;rsquo;opening of the Paris Olympic Games on July 26.
The 72-year-old artist, considered a pillar of disco in France, should perform his cult title "Supernature". According to our colleagues, the artist could be accompanied by international star Dua Lipa, known for her titles "One kiss", "Dance the night" quot; or even "Houdini". However, the presence of the young British singer has not been confirmed, and nothing has been decided yet.
First involved in a pop-funk group, Cerrone distinguished himself from the release of his first album, Love in C Minor, in disco. Aujourd& ;rsquo;now a key figure in electronic music, Cerrone has sold more than 30 million records worldwide. He notably collaborated with Nile Rodgers and Latoya Jackson and inspired French artists such as Daft Punk and Bob Sinclar.
Aya Nakamurra not ruled out either
These two participations do not mean that Aya Nakamurra, whose speculation about her performance at the opening ceremony sparked heated controversy, will not also be there. In fact, around twenty artists in total should be present.
La Voix du Nord reports that the name of Céline Dion was also mentioned. The final decision will be made by the artistic director of the opening and closing ceremonies, Thomas Jolly.
