The Hérault prefecture lifted, this Friday, July 5, the restrictions on harvesting, fishing, transport, marketing and consumption of all shellfish from the Thau pond.

"Taking into account the latest favorable results of toxin research carried out within the framework of the REPHYTOX network on Thau clams and mussels&quot ;, the prefect of Hérault decided on July 5 to lift the last restrictions on harvesting, transport, purification, shipping, distribution and marketing for human consumption of mussels and clams from the Thau pond.

Consumption was prohibited since June 20

"All shellfish from the Thau pond can therefore once again be consumed without restriction", assures the Hérault prefecture in a press release. Consumption has been prohibited since June 20. The updated map of health bans on shellfish harvesting can be found on the OIEAU website.
