The experienced Quentin Jouffroy was preferred to the young Joris Seddik to occupy the position of third center in the French volleyball team selected Monday to defend its Olympic title at the Paris Olympics (July 26-August 11 ).

Jouffroy (31 years old), present at the World Cup-2022 and Euro-2023, was decisive when he came into play in the final phase of the Ligue des nations (VNL) won by the Blues two weeks ago in Lodz (Poland). He is one of two players from the group of 12 selected who did not win the Olympic title three years ago in Tokyo, with the sharp Théo Faure, preferred to Stephen Boyer during the VNL in June.

Shield reception

Star Earvin Ngapeth and center Barthélémy Chinenyeze, injured for a large part of this competition, are part of the group for which receiver-attacker Thimothée Carle is the replacement.

Unlike his counterpart Andrea Giani, the Bleues coach Emile Rousseaux chose to call only three attacker-receivers (and not 4) and two liberos (on instead of 1), in order to secure the reception, a weak point identified during the first Nations League in the history of the selection. Les Bleues will also play the first Olympic Games in the history of the selection.
