Mystery identity of the driver

After ten months of research, the investigation into the disappearance of Lina, 15, has made a "major breakthrough". This Friday, July 26, the public prosecutor Yolande Renzi announced that the teenager's DNA had been found in a stolen car, "some time earlier early”.

Long sought by investigators, it was established that the vehicle was not far from the point of Lina's disappearance in September 2023 on the D350. However, the car was found far from the town of Plaine, in the South of France, indicates the Parisien.

The person who was driving the car when it passed through the disappearance zone has not been heard by investigators and his identity remains unknown. Furthermore, the criminal lead remains favored.

DNA found on “several media”

The in-depth analyses of the stolen car carried out by the National Gendarmerie Criminal Research Institute (IRCGN) confirmed that it had passed through the area where the teenager disappeared at the time of the events.

But also that Lina had indeed gotten into it. Sample analyses showed that Lina's DNA was found “on several media at inside the vehicle", underlines a source close to the case contacted by Le Figaro.

We still don't know the nature of this DNA – a hair, blood… – nor the place where it was found. In the trunk ? In the passenger seat ? For now the mystery remains.

According to the press release, it is now certain that the young girl got into this vehicle. While the investigations continue, this “major” discovery should allow the young girl to be located, the prosecutor said.
