Heatwave alert: 41 departments placed on orange alert… what to expect this Wednesday ?

Ce mercredi 31 juillet 2024, 41 départements sont placés en vigilance orange en raison de la canicule qui touche actuellement la France.

Heatwave, Sahara dust, 41 departments are placed on orange alert, this Wednesday July 31, 2024 due to the heatwave currently affecting France, according to Vigilance Météo France.

“The heatwave episode will decline in the afternoon with the return to the “yellow” level for the departments on the Atlantic coast”, according to the Vigilance Météo France website. “Nevertheless they will remain high, between 30 and 35 °C in the northern half (slightly higher in Alsace) and 35 to 38 °C in the southern half (locally 39 °C in the Mediterranean South)".

Drink plenty of water throughout the day

The Hérault will still be on orange alert. The maximums will be 33 °C in the afternoon in Montpellier.

It is important to drink plenty of water throughout the day. In addition, symptoms such as   "fever over 40 °C, hot, red and dry skin, headache, nausea, drowsiness, intense thirst, confusion, convulsions and loss of consciousness" should be taken seriously, according to the website  Vigilance Météo France.
