“I probably hurt people”: after two years of silence, the famous YouTuber Norman returns to the accusations of rape against him

Nearly two years after his last video on Youtube, videographer Norman made his comeback this Sunday, 11&amp ;nbsp;August. An unexpected return that follows months of investigation for rape and corruption of minors.

Since November 2022, videographer Norman had not appeared on YouTube. Long months of silence that can be explained by the legal troubles experienced by the thirty-year-old followed by more than 11 million subscribers. In 2020, seven women reported having been abused by the YouTuber, and two of them filed complaints. It was only three years later that the Paris prosecutor's office decided to close the case without further action.

On this Sunday, August 11, 2024, the former YouTube star published his first video in many months. In it, the Northerner speaks for the very first time about the case for which he was taken into custody. "I made a video to express myself about my life in recent years, and to tell you how much I miss you" begins the comedian in a very solemn tone.

"Following a complaint filed in early 2020, an investigation was opened by the Paris prosecutor's office. The initial complainant, whom I had never met, brought together seven other complainants, recounting alleged events that occurred between 2015 and 2018. In the end, two complaints were filed against me,” Norman Thavaud puts into context before recounting the hell he has lived through in recent years: “For two years, my life has been scrutinized in detail by the courts, constituting a file of several thousand pages involving police custody, with the confrontation of each of the complainants on December 5, 2022.”

“I have undoubtedly sometimes shown boorishness”

The YouTuber then publishes an excerpt from the report of the Paris prosecutor's office: “Norman did not exploit his notoriety or the potential vulnerability of complainants to the point of deceiving their consent. However, there was no testimony that could establish with precision inappropriate behavior towards the complainants or other young women". However, he explains that this episode had a profound effect on him.

Still in this video, Norman apologizes to the women he may have hurt: “I have to recognize that we live in a hard time, sometimes even unfair, but which is beneficial for our society. In my case, my relationship with meetings and seduction was surely sometimes inelegant and immature. I have probably sometimes shown boorishness, I have also probably sometimes hurt people, unintentionally, and that, I sincerely regret. Although my accusations were disproportionate, which justice has confirmed, we can always do better, me first” if my relationship with seduction was absolutely irreproachable, of course, there would have been none of this.”

At the end of the video, the videographer then mentions “all the little haters who did their job, properly". According to him, "lots of accounts, more or less influential, made the biggest score of their entire life by releasing content against me, they found a really juicy vein, it's like they bought themselves a feminist conscience overnight… And I think for some, they will repeat the operation until the views run out. It's also marketing, it's called the internet."
