Demonstration in support of Gaza brings together around fifty people in Alès

Prise de parole au moment du rassemblement, place de la mairie à Alès. – Jenny Bernard

This Saturday, August 17, around fifty people walked the streets of Alès to make their demands heard regarding the conflict between Israel and Hamas.

Since the beginning of the conflict between Israel and Hamas, a demonstration has been organized every week in front of the town hall of Alès, as was the case this Saturday, August 17, following the call of various unions, left-wing political parties and other associations.

Standing near guests who had come to celebrate a wedding, the group of demonstrators, Palestinian flags unfurled, listened to the speech of Salima Mellah, head of the association France Palestine Solidarity (AFPS) Alès-Cévennes. The demands remain the same: an “immediate ceasefire, an end to colonization, the release of hostages and political prisoners.” Salima Mellah points out that no demonstration will take place on August 24 because of the fair, but that a request has been made to set up a stand.

After the speeches, the fifty or so demonstrators marched through the various streets of the city center to the cathedral.
