This major commercial event will be held all day on Saturday, August 24, in the capital of the Cévennes.

In Alès, it is a tradition that tends to mark the start of the school year with a white stone: the Saint-Barthélemy fair. This major commercial event, which usually attracts dozens, even hundreds of non-sedentary traders, is therefore being held this Saturday, August 24, in the city center of the capital of the Cévennes. Customers should once again find household linen, clothing, decorative objects, tableware, sweets, makeup, etc.

Which streets and places are prohibited ?

Please note, this event is causing traffic and parking problems in the city centre. Thus, on August 24, it will be prohibited to drive and park between 6 a.m. and 10 p.m. on the following roads (any vehicle that obstructs the road will be subject to removal and impounding): Place de l'Hôtel de Ville, Rue du Commandant-Audibert (between Place Saint-Jean and No. 16 inclusive), Rue Rollin, upper and lower Place Saint-Jean, Rue Saint-Vincent, Rue Jan-Castagno, Rue d'Avéjan, Rue du Docteur-Serre, Rue Taisson, Rue de Beauteville, Place Henri-Barbusse, Rue Edgar-Quinet (between Place Henri-Barbusse and Rue Florian), Boulevard Louis-Blanc (between Rue Albert-Ier and Rue Allende), rue Allende, place du Général-Leclerc and place de l’Abbaye.

Several car parks available to motorists

Six municipal car parks will be open that day: La Maréchale, bus station (free), Gardon, place des Martyrs-de-la-Résistance, fairground (free) and Centr’Alès. As a reminder, the underground car park at L’Abbaye is still closed due to the restructuring work on the market halls.
