Riders enjoy the seaside atmosphere at the national competition in La Grande-Motte

The Jumping de La Grande-Motte began on Thursday and continues until Sunday, September 22, with 19 events and 1,100 participants. A success that has not waned for seventeen years.
This Friday, the first riders are expected in the arena at the crack of dawn, 7:15 a.m. for the Jumping de la Grande-Motte. Spotlight on the 17th edition of the event which includes 19 events until Sunday, including two CSO labeled at 135 and 140. And which, for this new organization, breaks attendance records by welcoming 1,100 starters, 400 horses housed on site.
Patrick Dupret, rider and competitor, had the idea of organizing an event to “play” at home, seventeen years ago. “The first competition, we had 500 starters and today, we are refusing registrations! “, he says with his organizer's cap, with the support of the communities, town hall and Region.
Award ceremonies with champagne!
The event is intended to be as sporty as it is festive, with the highlight of the competition being the Grand Prix de la Ville de la Grande-Motte (1.40 m event) on Sunday afternoon. “There are events for amateurs, for professionals, with riders who come from the Rhone Valley, Paca, Occitanie…, from Besançon to Annecy or Cannes via Lyon or Clermont… It is the only equestrian competition on the Mediterranean arc that is by the sea, where riders can go to the beach with their horses, at set times, early in the morning, and late in the evening". And then there is the atmosphere, festive, aperitif with gypsy music in the background, private riding evening at the Voile Bleue! "And then, all the prize-givings are done with champagne!"
First, you'll have to get up early to appreciate it, with the first riders on the track at 7:15 this Friday, and at 7:30 on Saturday. Lights!
