The 8 km trip on the Dourbie, lasting about two hours, is a favorite among vacationers. RL

A canoe trip on the Dourbie that allows you to discover the region differently, alternating between calm and physical moments.

Many canoes ply the waters of Millau, between the Dourbie and the Tarn. With family, as a couple, with friends or alone, canoeing has won over vacationers in this season that is coming to an end. The opportunity to discover the region differently, along the water. “It's really beautiful, the water is transparent, I've rarely seen that”, says Stéphane, on holiday in Millau.

The Millau nature sports company Roc et Canyon offers various outings adapted to everyone's level (provided that you are five years old and can swim). The 5 km one on the Dourbie lasts about 1 hour 30 minutes. As the company's website states, it is a “calm and pleasant descent“.

The start is located above the village of Massebiau. The 13 km one, also on the Dourbie, and the 17 km one are more sporty, “with rapids that make this course more technical”. The start is located on the Poujade site.

The Tarn is also in the spotlight with a 9 km descent and another 12 km descent. A good way to admire the city of Millau from another angle and see the viaduct up close.

The 8 km ride on the Dourbie, lasting about two hours, is a favorite among vacationers. “This descent offers a slightly longer format on a quiet route”. Gaël Kernin, co-manager of Roc et Canyon, explains that family trails allow people to go for a full day and take breaks on the beaches.

“I loved this activity. It was great to alternate between calm moments and faster ones where you had to focus on the direction", says Julie, a summer visitor who completed the 8 km course on the Dourbie.

Learning to "read the river"

Thomas Espinoza has been working at Roc et Canyon for three years as a white water instructor. “The Dourbie is more playful in terms of rapids, compared to the Tarn, he comments. There is wildness on the 8 km course, with lots of fauna and flora, and what is generally very amusing is learning to read the river to understand the direction to take with the canoe”.
