A tournament organized in Saint-André-de-Valborgne between legends and amateurs.
For this first edition of the inter-company challenge in Saint-André-de-Valborgne, the organizers have had a full house.
After the round that was played at the brasserie of the town hall in Alès, this is the 8th stage of the Pétanq’business tour organized by Olivier Sanguinède, Uffren Anicée and Régis Bourrely, the mayor of the town.
The stars of pétanque, Ligan Doerr, Philippe Suchaud, Dylan Rocher, Philippe Quintais, Henri Lacroix and Stéphane Robineau, in keeping with their status, put on a show. The games lived up to expectations, but the amateurs defended themselves well.
In a festive atmosphere, the Dhombre and Misso teams distinguished themselves with three victories before falling to the pros.
A high-flying final, but a clear score
The final pitted the Quintais, Suchaud, Bourrely trio against Rocher, Lacroix and the very young Mattéo Vicini, originally from the village. The locals did more than defend themselves and tried to match the champions. The Rocher team quickly pulled away to the point of leading 9-0. The mayor's trio did have a proud reaction, but it was not enough despite a brief comeback to 9-3. It was on the score of 13-5 that she finally bowed out.
The grand finale of the event will take place on Friday, October 4 at the Domaine des Reboussiers in Cazevieille (near Pic-Saint-Loup).
At the end of the awards ceremony, Régis Bourrely and Olivier Sanguinède confirmed that the competition will be held again next year, “probably in June, depending on the availability of the champions and due to more favorable weather”.
