A chase over 35 kilometres between Saint-Gilles and Aigues-Mortes: stuck, the reckless driver hits the police car

The driver was arrested and taken into custody.

The check could have turned into a tragedy. This Monday evening, the municipal police of Saint-Gilles tried to arrest a reckless driver for excessive speed around 7 p.m.

Several dozen kilometers of chase

Far from complying, the latter sped in the direction of Aigues-Mortes. Immediately,  the gendarmerie and the municipal police of Aigues-Mortes are notified.

The chase lasts more than 35 kilometers until an ambush is set for the reckless driver at the cemetery at the entrance to Aigues-Mortes. The reckless driver hits a municipal police car at the engine block. Three Aigues-Mortes officers are slightly injured. The police car has to be evacuated by tow truck.

The reckless driver was arrested and taken into custody.
