In Occitanie, several students have been unable to access their cars since mid-July. The reason is that a freight elevator has broken down and is blocking entrances and exits.

There are at least six students who are no longer able to access their cars. Students from Toulouse have been living a real nightmare for almost two months now. In mid-July, in the underground car park of their residence, the car elevator in the car park broke down and blocked all the vehicles. Since then, no solution has been found to deal with the many complications, explains France 3.

For most of these affected drivers, the lease on their apartments was ending at the end of July. The young students were therefore obliged to leave the premises, as well as their car.

Heavy expenses incurred

“The vacating of the premises was scheduled for July 26. We were only able to do so on August 2, thanks to the arrival of his parents from Normandy. They rented a vehicle to remove their daughter's belongings from the studio“, explains the uncle of a young resident who was stuck, in the columns of our colleagues. And the ordeal does not end there for this young woman who must now make back and forth trips between Nancy, her new place of study and Toulouse, in order to repatriate her last belongings.

“We told her to write a letter to claim compensation, we are just trying to prevent her from having money problems, because it has generated a lot of expenses for her and her parents. We try to call the managers of the residence but, we are told over and over again that the problem will soon be taken care of but nothing is done…" completes the uncle, on France 3.
