Septembre est un temps fort de l’activité locative des Gîtes de France et s’annonce particulièrement bon en 2024. Décryptage avec Solange Escure, directrice nationale de ce réseau d’hébergements bien connu.

Gîtes de France deserted as soon as August is over ? Not at all, quite the contrary. “September is one of the key months of the year, as is the pre-season. It looks very good this year with bookings being made very early, even if there will always be some last minute bookings,” points out Solange Escure, national director of Gîtes de France.

To have a choice of accommodation and destination, September holidaymakers have organised themselves, aware that they are not the only ones who enjoy this late season, popular with those who do not have school constraints.

Top 5

In the top 5 destinations, the Pyrénées-Atlantiques are in first position, followed by Corsica, Côtes d'Armor, Brittany and Haut-Rhin, “traditional leading group”. In Occitanie, Lozère comes in 20th place out of 92 departments where Gîtes de France is established, Hérault 21st, Aude 35th, Pyrénées-Orientales and Aveyron occupy 37th and 38th place respectively.

Nature stays

The trend of holidays in September, for nature stays, is confirmed. For over 5 years, “we have recorded between 50 and 75% occupancy rates depending on the week”, underlines Solange Escure, national director of Gîtes de France.

Degressive rates

It must be said that from the 1st of the month, the rates are degressive. “Between July 15 and September 15, we can have between 30 and 50% difference in price“. A fact necessarily taken into account by young couples, retirees or even hiking groups.
