A draw evening in Regional 1 with three matches ending in a draw

Les buteurs Gregorio (blanc) et Lemaangr (à gauche) à la bataille dans le match opposant Lunel à Nîmes. Théo Delbreil

Four Regional 1 matches were scheduled for Saturday evening for three draws between Montferrier and Béziers, Lunel and the reserve of Nîmes Olympiques, Frontignan and Clermont. Fabrègues, away to Mende, fell, 1-0. Continued this Sunday with St-Estève – Atlas Paillade, Canet Roussillon II – Grau du Roi, Vauvert – Narbonne.

For this second day of Regional 1, Montferrier and Béziers parted with a score of 0-0. In such a tight match, with two equal teams, there was a lack of that brilliant move that could have turned the match around. The one that turns a match around, with a meticulous gesture or a clear strike.
The coaches tried tactical changes, racked their brains to find the winning formula, the one that would bring the 3 points home. But we never got there. We looked at each other, we stumbled, we tried… in vain. And then in this tiring little game, nerves got tense, and mistakes happened. Maybe that was the formula too.
Take advantage of the rare errors of inattention, fatigue or irritation, especially on the Béziers side when Villa cut his opponent down the right wing (72nd). And the fatigue factor did little to clear things up. Even if at the end of the match, both teams exploited each other more, passed the ball more from one camp to the other, without ever endangering either goalkeeper.
For the home team, we can surely blame the opposing goalkeeper who, half an hour into the game, saved a ball on his line to probably snuff out the only dangerous opportunity of the match. In the end, this championship clash found no other outcome than a draw, perfectly reflecting the physiognomy of the match.

Frontignan's good draw against Clermontaise

Despite a significant loss in the line, no less than 7 starters on the flank, the Muscatiers fought hard to take a precious point. Conversely, in shock after their elimination in the Coupe de France, the visitors who wanted to reassure themselves certainly lost two. The local defensive block only gave way to a penalty after the break. Before this stroke of fate, the young Frontignanais managed to stem the visitors' incessant attacks. On a quick counterattack, a diagonal from Pagès found Moureaux who managed to deceive an unfortunate Bernal in his exit. The visitors reacted, showing themselves to be mainly dangerous on set pieces. At the end of the period, Benezech offered Dalouze the opportunity to shine a little more. It was at the edge of the post that he deflected the leather.
On the return leg, the scenario remained the same. Frontignan left the ball voluntarily, Clermont multiplied the waves. On one of them, Kamel, perhaps due to lack of experience, was rewarded with a penalty. Marti deceived Dalouze and put the two teams back on level terms. In the 81st minute, Marti missed the target while the crossbar from Muscat helped Dalouze maintain the score in stoppage time. Frustration among the Clermontais and pride in the result obtained among the locals, that is what we will remember from this match.
In the same group, Fabrègues lost (1-0) in Mende.

Lunel and Nîmes part as good friends

At home, Gallia immediately took control of the ball and imposed its game in the first half. If two set pieces were easily repelled by the Nîmes defense in the first moments of the match, it is also because of a big lack of discipline that was a weak point for both teams throughout the match. Between the repeated fouls, the Lunellois managed to penetrate the opponent's surface several times, in vain. < br/> We had to wait until the 21st minute to see the first response from the visitors with a shot that went just wide of the uprights. Dominant but unable to conclude in the game, Gallia found the fault on an off-center free kick in the 43rd minute. While the goalkeeper was expecting a cross, Gregorio hit the target and slipped the ball into the left top corner. < br/>At the restart, Nîmes came close to punishing themselves by scoring an own goal. The match seemed to be under control by Lunel, but a handball in the area allowed Lemaangr to equalize in the 82nd minute. The end of the match was unbearable. It's a real game of ping-pong as the ball goes back and forth from one camp to the other, but after eight minutes of added time, neither team manages to take the definitive advantage, and both Lunellois and Nîmes could regret only bringing home one point.
