Rapes of Mazan: in support of Gisèle Pelicot, a silent march organized in the coming days in the commune of Vaucluse

As the Mazan rape trial enters its fifth week, a silent march is being organized this weekend in the small town of Vaucluse in support of Gisèle Pelicot.

Dominique Pelicot and 50 other defendants have been in court since the beginning of September for rape of the wife of the main defendant. Gisèle Pelicot was drugged and filmed by her husband, while he was proposing his wife to men on the internet for almost a decade.

This extraordinary case is shaking up France, the entire world and particularly affecting feminist groups. This is the case of 84 Women's Rights, which organized a silent march on Saturday, October 5, at 2:30 p.m. in Mazan.

Solidarity and empathy

The latter is organized by the collective of women victims of violence as well as the Isofaculté association, specialized in personal reconstruction through the mediation of horses. "The women victims of violence that we follow wanted to express their solidarity with Gisèle Pelicot and asked us if we could be the bearer of the project", says Daniel Silvestre, director of Isofaculté, quoted by Le Dauphiné Libéré.

“Marked by the trials of Gisèle Pelicot, these women, moved by her dignity, are launching an appeal for solidarity and empathy, says the Isofaculté press release. A sober musical accompaniment as well as a reading of poems and testimonies of participants will punctuate this event", he added.

This march is a call "for solidarity and empathy" and aims to “change mentalities and free speech, so that shame can finally change sides”, note Ouest France.

Dominique Pelicot present this Tuesday at the trial

Dominique Pelicot, the main accused in the Mazan rape trial, returned this Tuesday, October 1, 2024, to the dock of the Vaucluse criminal court, which will study the psychological profiles of a third group of his co-accused, numbering seven this week.

The president of the court, Roger Arata, opened this twentieth day of hearings in this emblematic trial of chemical submission and sexual violence without providing details on the state of health of Mr. Pelicot, 71 years old, who had been excused for Monday for medical reasons.
