Sailing: Mixed fortunes for regional skippers during the Med Max

The litany of arrivals continued on Saturday in Saïdia, Morocco, with the stakes being first place in Class40 for boats with pointed bows. Old generation boats compared to the new ones (the scows that took the first places) which concern the regional skippers.

In this context of light air (little wind), it was Mathieu Claveau who grew up in Lozère and started sailing in Palavas, who came out the best, finishing in 7th place on Prendre la Mer/Agir pour la forêt. “I am very happy with my race even if we finished very tired. The strategic choices worked well, we didn't break anything, we got on well with Christophe Fialon. A bit long, the last night but we were where we wanted to be.”

Louis Toreilles licensed in Mauguio-Carnon 8th

Unlike François Verdier and Pierre-Laurent Garnero on Ha Plus PME – Phenix, only 9th and possibly disqualified for missing a buoy before Sète. “We sailed well but we know where we went wrong”, regretted the skipper based in La Grande-Motte and who wanted so much better on the former boat of Kito de Pavant, the organizer.

Louis Toreilles, licensed in Mauguio-Carnon, finished 8th on Aquamarin. Goulven Marie and Nasser Arrais, the Biterrois, born in Morocco, arrived late at night.
