“Champion was killed gratuitously”: Rider knocked down and left unconscious, her horse stabbed seven times

Un cheval a été sauvagement tué et sa cavalière laissée inconsciente au sol dans le Lot-et-Garonne vendredi 4 octobre. Une agression inexpliquée, qui laisse la cavalière et l’élevage dans l’incompréhension et la colère.

A horse ride that turns into a drama. While Audrey and Champion are out for a walk this Friday in Lot-et-Garonne, in Bon Encontre near Agen, a car comes up behind her quickly. The 26-year-old rider sees two men come out and her horse, frightened, starts to rear up, says France 3 Nouvelle-Aquitaine.

~6 0~p>Audrey's last memory will be her fall. The rest is the owner of the place who was boarding the horse Champion. She is the one who discovered the animal. “Audrey must have remained unconscious. When she got up, she couldn't find her horse. There was blood everywhere on the path”.

Finally the animal is found a little further away, dead. “He was stabbed to death, gratuitously. “It's barbarity”, she denounces.

“They knew what they were doing”

The rider was taken care of by emergency services. She remains very shocked by what happened but has no injuries. It seems that the attackers mainly attacked the horse. In a post published on Facebook, the horse boarding house denounces the act "barbaric and cowardly" of the criminals who killed Champion. "The place of the blows gave him no chance, they knew what they were doing".

A theory that is supported by a couple present at the time the horse was found. Questioned by France 3, they estimated that   "only people who knew horses well could have committed this act". The manager of the boarding house, questioned by La Dépêche agrees. "A thoroughbred like Champion weighs about 500 kg ! And with an animal that rears up, in the excitement, the blows had to be delivered with great precision".

An investigation has been opened. The technical and scientific police have been dispatched and the investigations are being carried out by the Agen public prosecutor's office.
