The series of procedures for awarding the public service delegation for the management of public transport in Nîmes will come to an end in February. This Monday, a new meeting of the committee on the transport DSP was held without anything filtering through.

On this issue, the elected officials of Nîmes Métropole are very discreet, for fear of derailing the procedure: "Some believe they know who the future delegate is but the procedure is not not completed, which explains why I will not communicate on this subject,” says Claude de Girardi, member of the community office responsible for urban and peri-urban road passenger transport.

The Agglo must decide between Keolis, which has already been the network operator in Nîmes, and RATPDev which would like to establish itself more in the provinces. The choice seems imminent. According to a person familiar with the matter, the decision should be made at the end of the week. Subsequently, a draft deliberation must be drawn up before the choice of delegate is validated or not by elected officials during the community council on Monday February 26.

Line T5, extension of T1 for projects

This decision, the inter-union, which had launched a strike movement this winter to obtain a commitment on future working conditions and the social pact, awaits it impatiently. And in particular the amount of the contract. The first figures showed an amount of 44 million euros, or 8 million euros, which had dissuaded Transdev from applying given the savings that this required. But the contract would have gained several million euros since then.

Enough to launch the major projects imposed on the future delegatee such as the future T5 line which will serve Vaunage, but also the extension of the T1, the deployment of bicycle rentals, while preserving a network and working conditions for employees worthy of the name.
