“I was still surprised that we let him out like that”: sent away from the emergency room, he died a few hours later

This 64-year-old from Lotois was sent away from the emergency room in Figeac (Lot) when he was in extreme pain during the night of January 29 to 30. He died at his home a few hours later. His family decided to file a complaint.

Could this tragedy have been avoided ? Serge Jouberton died at his home after being sent home from Figeac hospital, reports La Dépêche. On the night of January 29 to 30, this 64-year-old from Lotois woke up his wife Patricia because he was writhing in pain."It was 3 a.m. He really wasn't well. He said to me: "My legs are paralyzing"." entrusts the caregiver.

After the arrival of emergency services, Serge Jouberton was taken to the Figeac emergency room. "He only had 7 blood pressure. He was sweating profusely but he was conscious and speaking without problem". says his wife.

After having undergone examinations in the emergency room, he leaves with a prescription for painkillers and an appointment to make with a neurologist. Patricia is quite surprised to see him come back so quickly, especially since she declares that when she gets him back, "he doesn' He was not well at all, he walked but was weak. His blood pressure was 9. I was still surprised that they let him out like that. 

The family files a complaint

Back at home, Serge Jouberton's case will only get worse: "He complains of burns on his back in particular. We saw him suffering. We couldn't leave him like that. We also decided that the next day we would go to the Cahors hospital or elsewhere to get another opinion…" declares her daughter.

But Serge Jouberton will not spend the night. His wife found him dead in the morning of January 31. The daughter of the household decided to file a complaint to understand how this tragedy could have happened. She went to the Figeac gendarmerie on Tuesday.

The director of Figeac hospital learned of the complaint and announced that'"There will be an investigation internal open".
