The national secretary of the French Communist Party travels to the department and holds a public meeting on Tuesday February 13 with Léon Deffontaines, head of the party list for the European elections scheduled for June 6 to 9, 2024.

A turn to galvanize the troops. As part of their travels for the European elections, Fabien Roussel, national secretary of the French Communist Party (PCF), and Léon Deffontaines, head of their list for the European elections, are traveling in the Gard, and in particular in the Alésien basin, Tuesday February 13.

According to the first elements of the program, the two politicians will first go, around 2 p.m. to the site of the Pont-Saint-Esprit multimodal exchange hub to see the results of the reopening of the line railway known as the right bank of the Rhône.

Public meeting in Saint-Martin, with a Gardois in the list

They will go, around 5 p.m., to the city center of Alès, for a visit to the Prolé bar, before taking the road towards Saint-Martin-de-Valgégales. Accompanied by a group of communist and Cévennes elected officials, Fabien Roussel and Léon Deffontaines will hold, in the Fare Alais space, a public meeting open to all to discuss the issues of the elections of the European Parliament. They will end their Gard tours the next day, with a breakfast planned at the Prolé in Nîmes.

"Our objective is to seek out the abstainers. And to show that these elections are crucial to regain control in France,” summarizes Grand-Combien and former deputy Patrick Malavieille, who is the only Gardois appearing on the PCF list for the elections. "I'm rather at the end of the list… Just like Fabien Roussel who occupies the last place, it's above all to support. But Gard is represented!"

The goal of the PCF, at a minimum, is to finally be able to win seats in the Strasbourg parliament. Functions in which the party has, to date, no representative.
