"A beautiful image of women's sport": the basketball champions made a detour to the Midi Libre stand at the Montpellier Expo Fair

La médaillée olympique Romane Berniès et la championne d’Europe pour les – 18 ans Nell Angloma, toutes deux gazelles du BLMA, étaient présentes sur le stand de notre journal pour rencontrer leurs supporters ce mardi 15 octobre.

On the field, it seems like nothing can stop them, but on the Midi Libre stand this Tuesday, October 15 at the Montpellier Expo Fair, they seemed almost intimidated by the public's interest in them.

However, basketball players Romane Berniès and Nell Angloma are talented players and have nothing to be ashamed of. For this season within the BLMA, the two gazelles have been undefeated for several matches. And what's more, the former is an Olympic medalist and the latter is a European champion for the – 18 years old.

But very quickly, the ice broke as the questions continued. They then spoke with great modesty about their careers, their preparation and their respective and collective performances.

Women's sport

At the heart of the discussions, the place of women's sport was widely discussed. "Obviously, as an athlete and as a woman, I have observed an evolution over the past few years. With Montpellier performing well, people are starting to get a taste for it." Even if it's not enough yet, Romane Berniès hopes that it will continue and that broadcasts of women's matches will soon be legion.

As for her silver medal won at the Paris Olympics, it's obvious that "it's incredible even if we would have preferred gold", she admits with a discreet smile. "But I think we gave a great image of women's sport there too."

The gazelles, a great team

Nell Angloma, who has just arrived in Montpellier, is delighted. “I'm starting my professional life, leaving my family is a sacrifice. But it's worth it.”

Even more so with the start of the BLMA season which is fabulous. “We are really satisfied with this start, but we are not getting carried away. The season is going to be long", her teammate prefers to be cautious. And Nell Angloma added: “We have a good group, it shows on the field.”

On the public side, the only downside mentioned is the absence of jerseys for sale by the club. The supporter leaves a little reassured: the project is underway. Soon those who wish will be able to wear the colors of the BLMA and women's sport a little more. To be continued..

Midi Libre stand program this Wednesday, October 16: from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., presentation of the 20 km of Montpellier. And from 3:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., the stand will welcome Laurent Nicollin and MHSC players. I subscribe to read the rest
