Jean-Yves Chapelet a remis la gerbe de la municipalité.

Mercredi, une trentaine de marcheurs ont suivi une partie du chemin parcouru par le commando.

On Wednesday, September 11, the fine rain in the Gard Rhodanien did not stop the thirty or so walkers from the association of retired construction workers, led by retired colonel Alain David. Leaving Sabran, the troop followed part of the path taken by the Vigan-Braquet commando 80 years ago, then reached the Robert-Desnos square in Bagnols where the flag bearers of the veterans' association were waiting for them. On site, the colonel congratulated the courageous men who, through this 13 km journey, paid tribute to the liberators of the Gard Rhodanien, declaring them “ companions of the black star“. The ceremony continued with the reading of a poem by Robert Desnos and letters from General De Lattre de Tassigny. Mayor Jean-Yves Chapelet concluded the speeches by recalling that if life and freedom were present in this square, it was thanks to the courage of 280 young people who followed Georges Vigan-Braquet. The laying of wreaths followed the speeches and the ceremony ended with a solemn minute of silence.
