Du monde a répondu présent à l'appel au Rassemblement devant la préfecture ce jeudi 18 juillet à Nîmes. L'appel a été lancé par certains syndicats et plusieurs forces politiques de gauche.

The FSU 30, LDH, UL CGT Nîmes launched a call for a rally this Thursday, July 18 at noon in front of the Nîmes prefecture. "We solemnly call on Emanuel Macron to respect the results of the ballot boxes." could we read in the press release. The demonstration was wanted and organized by several political forces of the New Popular Front: Ensemble, Ecologists, LFI, PC, PS. Around a hundred people gathered at midday, flags and signs flying.

"Government : immediately to change everything", written on Régis' sign. "The elections saw the NFP come out on top. It’s a defeat for Emmanuel Macron and the RN. Democracy therefore wants this political force to be the government of France. We are therefore campaigning to have a Prime Minister of the NFP", explains the man who insists on "respecting democracy". Next to him, Philippe speaks in these words: "the people voted for a break. This is why I am campaigning. At the end of the day, we vote and it doesn't move forward. We still have the street to express ourselves". Sophie also mobilized and returns to the opportunity to put her ideas into the street: "It is important to show that there is popular mobilization. We must also show that the election is only one step, it is not enough to vote and then wait. We must continue to push“.

“The Popular Front is united”

Colin Gril, co-secretary of the local group Les écologistes in Nîmes was also present. “It must be remembered that the Popular Front, the leading political force in the legislative elections, is united. It is therefore a Government from its ranks that must be elected. Of course, we are aware that the NFP was elected with a relative majority. In France, we are not used to not being in an absolute majority, it will take time." He continues: "We have a program base. It is not a question of diluting this program and twisting it to ally with other forces. Let us remember that if there must be an alliance of the right and the center, it would be contrary to the votes of the electors. The NFP was united before the votes". The professional visual artist was pleasantly surprised by the dynamic of unity during the legislative elections. Going to the prefecture this Thursday was an opportunity for him to “mark the occasion, maintain momentum. All the more crucial in the Gard, where the latest elections favorable to the RN are alarming“.
