All Calandretas establishments in Occitanie – schools, middle schools and high schools – are organizing an open morning on Saturday January 20. Including the three schools of Béziers: Falabreguièrs, Ametlièr and Lo Garric.
Like all Calandretas establishments in Occitanie, the three bilingual French-Occitan Calandretas schools in Béziers open their doors to the public on Saturday January 20, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.
The event, coordinated by the Calandreta Regional Federation, will be the opportunity, for schools as well as for parent management associations and for the Clar de Luna college of Maraussan, not only to meet interested families, to show the premises, but also to present their specificities.
The Eco-school label
The three schools, under the direction of Valérie Carisio, are part of the federation and confederation of calandretas which today bring together around fifty structures throughout the country ;Occitanie. They are recognized by National Education, the teachers have successfully passed the school teacher competition. They welcome children from the "Very small section" from kindergarten (2 years) to CM2. The teams are each made up of 5 teachers, including one language teacher (for grammar, conjugation, spelling, etc. in French and Occitan).
The three establishments have obtained the Eco-school label, thus integrating the lessons and activities into an approach to promoting sustainable development. Children are constantly made aware of climate and environmental issues within the framework of their school environment.
As part of the establishment project, each school works on a theme linked to the label for two years.
L'Ametlièr, Les Falabreguièrs and Lo Garric
L'Ametlièr. The school, located at 7 rue Franklin (one perpendicular to the ;#39;avenue Albert-1er), created in 1980, is the first calandreta in Béziers. It is directed by Valérie Carisio. This year, 92 students are enrolled there. The environmental theme: "Water, a resource to be preserved".
Les Falabreguièrs.The school, located at 7 rue Rouget-de-Lisle, in the Gambetta district, was created in 1994. It is directed by Caroline Gomez. It welcomes 81 children. The teaching team and students work on the theme of food.
Lo Garric. This is the most recent. It opened its doors in 2012, facing a growing demand for registrations that the other two calandretas could not meet. It is located in the outlying district of Montimas, in the heart of the Béziers countryside, more precisely on CR 61n chemin des Écoles. The director's name is Émilie Calvignac. This year it welcomes 89 children and works on the theme of solidarity.
A movement, a pedagogy
The calandretas are associative establishments (managed by parents), secular and practicing an immersive pedagogy in Occitan from the "Very small section". The education provided follows the national education programs. The pedagogy is active (the child is placed at the center of his learning), inspired by Freinet techniques, to support the child towards autonomy, sharing and citizenship . Today, with its experience, the Calandreta movement considers that it has developed its own pedagogy.
