A Sainte-Africa association is planning a live performance festival in Vabres-L’Abbaye

Du 10 au 18 mai : Musique et cirque au festival C’est quoi ce cirque ? porté par l’association Poly Sons.

"The first edition of the C’est que est ce cirque ? festival took place on a field in Saint-Affrique in 2014. Unfortunately, a flood in the fall closed the venue and forced us to look for another place to pitch our marquee", deplores Aurélie Dugard, employee of the & rsquo;Sainte-Affricaine association Poly Sons which has existed since 1988.

The young woman manages day-to-day administrative management, grant files and all declarations. She specifies: "Since 2016, our two marquees have been set up every spring in the park of the bishopric in Vabres-l’Abbaye for this festival, this year from May 10 to 18. I am the only permanent employee of Poly Sons. The association has sixty volunteers for all positions including technical, infrastructure installation, ticketing, displays, welcoming the public and artists… Everything belongs to us, the marquees, the sound equipment as well as the lighting equipment. Poly Sons, whose headquarters is in Saint-Affrique, has a 250 m2 storage room in Camarès. A premises purchased in SCI by supporters and of which the association is the tenant."

Program

For the days to come, music à in the spotlight on Friday, May 10 with a lively fanfare aperitif. by La Bérézina from Saint-Sauveur and straight from H&rault, Dalonaz and his maloya (Creole from Réunion) and the ;rsquo;Cholao National Orchestra and its Caribbean rhythms. On Saturday May 11, place à the art of circus for all audiences with, Plus Haut, from the Barolosolo Company and their intimate and quirky show. From 10 € à 15 euros, free for children under 12. Live show in a rural environment

Benefiting from the Public Establishment (ERP) label, Poly Sons organizes a rich and eclectic annual season and cultural events such as the festival, What is this circus? ;nbsp;?Financially supported by the Department of Aveyron, the Occitanie Region and the municipality of Saint-Affrique, the association continues to broadcast circus shows, contemporary music and street arts.

Its program is aimed at all types of public in Saint-Affricain, all ages and social backgrounds. This is evidenced by the school presentations aimed at schoolchildren, middle school and high school students, a circus workshop (unfortunately full) and the reception of people from Saint-Affrique community centers and leisure centers from the Community of Communes of Saint-Affrique. Africain, Roquefort and Sept Vallons.

Its two marquees can accommodate 250 people, the white one, and the blue one, dedicated to 300 concerts. "One of the strong points of our association remains the presence, among the members, of professional artists, it can benefit from their networks. Thanks to them, Poly Sons can invite companies which without this network would be absent and above all too expensive", notes Aurélie Dugard. This is the case this year with the Barolosolo Circus Company, located near Le Mans and their show, Plus haute.

Two presidents

Among the new 2024 products, one is big. For the first time in its history, Poly Sons has elected a woman as its leader. And even two! Or a dual presidency with Kotoe Makino and Soledad Prassel. An invigorating feminization. Louise Herold, from the Cuisine commission made up of four people, details another innovation: "Poly Sons will offer a catering service every evening with a unique dish, meat or vegetarian, made up of local products and/or from organic farming. Each evening will offer a different dish". A 2024 edition which looks beautiful and promising.
