Miss Languedoc final, this Saturday in Beaucaire

#OCCITANIE Postponed due to the storms that broke out last Friday evening in the Gard, the Miss Languedoc final will take place this Saturday, August 10 at 9 p.m. at Place Clemenceau in Beaucaire.

Fourteen young girls from local competitions are in the running to succeed Maxime Tessier, Miss Languedoc 2023 and fourth runner-up to Miss France 2024. Miss France 2022, Diane Leyre, will participate in the evening which will conclude with a dazzling finale of a Parisian revue.

Miss Languedoc 2025 will participate in the Miss France competition scheduled for mid-December. This friendly event takes place outdoors, admission is free.

The mussel war will not take place

#LA GRANDE MOTTE War has been declared between the town hall and the restaurant “Chez Tetel”, an institution specializing in shellfish and more particularly mussels. The subject of discord is waste collection, with local residents complaining about odor nuisances.

The restaurateur exceeding the tonnage "absorbable" by collective collection must call on a private service provider to collect the waste. The Agglomeration claims to have presented three of them, without success. Alas, on Friday August 2, the municipal services installed a sign in front of the restaurant terrace stating: "Chez Tetel refuses to organize the collection of its waste itself as required by the regulations".

The restaurateur's lawyer explains that this is a "misunderstanding. When the municipality put up the sign, it had been in compliance for a week. My client is very willing and will do whatever is asked of him."

#GARD It's been almost two years since the TER between Avignon and Pont-Saint-Esprit returned to the right bank of the Rhône. The president of the users' association, Pascal Rousson, announced that 75,000 passengers had used the line in 2023 for five daily round trips.

“The ridership is there. It shows that the train has a use for the populations” welcomes Jean-Luc Gibelin, vice-president of the region responsible for transport.

A legend at the arenas

#NÎMES "The Legend of the Gardens", continues this Wednesday 7, Friday 9, Monday 12, Tuesday 13 and Wednesday, August 14, at 9:30 p.m. at the arenas. This creation combines history, mythology, dance, acrobatics and special effects.

The story is rooted in Antiquity, with the construction of the Tour Magne, the symbol of the city. Then, the audience is transported to the 18th century, with the birth of the famous Jardins de la Fontaine.

More than twenty dancers, stuntmen, extras and a hundred volunteers bring this epic to life. Light effects, video mapping and special effects transform the arena into a magical setting.
