Agirc-Arrco supplementary pension: find out if you are affected by the increase of more than a hundred euros per year

From April 1, several hundred thousand retirees will see their supplementary pension increase. We explain why.

Since 2019, a reduction of 10% of the amount of the Agirc-Arrco supplementary pension had been put in place during the first three years of the pension for those taking their departure before having reached the pivotal age set at the time. This made it possible to encourage employees to work beyond the legal retirement age.

Removal of penalty

But since the pension reform of 2023, which postpones the legal retirement age to 64, this system was no longer relevant.  The social partners, managers of the supplementary pension, have therefore put an end to this temporary solidarity coefficient from April 1, 2024.

The site of the Agirc-Arrco reports that the reduction was to take place on supplementary pensions for three years. Thus, elderly people recover the full amount of their pension more quickly, since the reduction was to continue after March 2024.

700 000 people affected

So since April 1, 2024, 700,000 people have been able to see their pension increase. But this concerns employees who retire between 2021 and 2023 at the full rate age. This then represents an increase of 500 million euros per year, or 715 euros more per year. The removal of the penalty represents a more or less significant sum depending on the number of points contributed to Agirc-Arrco, indicates Retirement in plain language.
