Ce jeudi 11 janvier, les équipes mobiles académiques de sécurité (Emas), déployées dans l'établissement depuis les violences du 19 décembre, ont interpellé un élève à l'accueil du matin.

On December 19, following a fight between students at the Croix-d'Argent college in Montpellier, people from outside the establishment entered by force, committing violence and threats against staff. and students. Two educational assistants (AED) and an English teacher have been off work since.

A reinforced support plan has been implemented since the start of the school year on January 8
at the Silver Cross college. It is reflected in particular by the daily presence of mobile academic security teams (EMAS) within the establishment, to support the educational community, in order to prevent any risk of violence.

"As part of unannounced visual checks of bags and satchels carried out at regular intervals, the Emas discovered this Thursday, January 11 at the morning reception that’ a student was in possession
of a knife in his schoolbag, announces the Rectorate in a press release.

A complaint filed

"As a security measure, the knife was confiscated by the Emas. Joël Vidal, principal of the college
Croix d’Argent immediately decided to remove this student, as a precaution, until the holding
next meeting of the disciplinary council. In addition, the head of the establishment filed a complaint with the
police services."

Sophie Bejean, Rector of the Occitanie academic region, Rector of the academy of
Montpellier, Chancellor of universities, wanted to  welcome the effectiveness of the prevention work carried out by Emas alongside the staff of the educational community".

The Rector also condemns with the greatest firmness this "isolated, unconscious and
act intolerable", recalls that the illegal introduction of a weapon into a school establishment is punishable
with a sentence of three years’ imprisonment and 45,000 euros; fine and that "all new
introduction of a weapon, whatever it may be, will systematically be the subject of a complaint. She
finally underlines that "the Emas will continue to be deployed daily within the college
until further notice.
