A teacher hit by two primary school students in Avignon: the 14th report of violence since January in this school

Ce lundi 25 mars 2024, les cours ont été perturbés à l’école primaire Vertes Rives en Avignon, dans le quartier Montfavet (Vaucluse). Une enseignante s’est fait frapper par deux élèves. L’intervention des pompiers était nécessaire.

Several members of the teaching staff were absent at the Vertes-Rives primary school in Montfavet, this Tuesday, March 26, 2024. One of their colleagues was attacked by two of her students the day before. The children were said to have had a tantrum, indicates France Bleu Vaucluse.

"This is not acceptable"

The firefighters were called by the teacher, and took away one of the two children who could not be restrained. The second was taken care of by a psychologist. The teacher was off work on Tuesday.

Since January, fourteen reports of violence have been recorded in this school, two were for serious and imminent danger, indicate our colleagues.

"We see a child hitting the teacher, a child putting himself in danger, throwing himself against the wall, running away, screaming, scream, hit. This is not a healthy environment for evolving, for learning", declares Blaise Laurent, co-secretary in Vaucluse of the teaching union.

The latter calls on the academic inspectorate to help these children be placed in specialized structures. All children have the right to receive an education adapted to each one. The parents of the students also gave their support to the establishment and its teachers.
