A team of snatch thieves, made up of three Algerians, dismantled by Montpellier police officers

On January 15, a tram user had her necklace ripped off by two individuals who beat her before running away with her jewelry.

A few days later, another Montpellier woman was attacked by three perpetrators this time. That day, a man who had the courage to intervene was sprayed with fiery tear gas. He escaped with three days of ITT.

Nine crimes are attributed to them

The investigations made it possible to identify those accused of these violent thefts. In this case, three Algerians in an irregular situation, aged 23, 21 and 17, who were arrested this Tuesday, February 13, at 4:30 p.m., in front of Saint-Roch station, by police officers from the public transport security brigade, in collaboration with their counterparts from the anti-crime brigade.

It was in fact their rallying point from where they set off on an expedition. Nine crimes, committed between November 2023 and January 2024, during the time slot “4 p.m.-midnight” on a sector between Celleneuve and Odysseum, were ultimately attributed to them.

Referred this Thursday to the public prosecutor's office, they must appear this Friday, February 16 before the Montpellier judicial court.
