The postwoman found herself face to face with him while she was riding a scooter. We must intervene before the accident!", reports a local resident.

LGV Montpellier-Perpignan : progress

#TRANSPORTS –The Board of Directors of the Société de la Ligne Nouvelle Montpellier – Perpignan met on Thursday January 18 under the chairmanship of the President of the Occitanie Region Carole Delga, in the presence of Iveta Radičová, coordinator of the Mediterranean corridor at the European Commission. Iveta Radičová reaffirmed the support of the European Union for the creation of the new line, marked by initial European funding of 6.3 million euros for phase 1 of the project, between Montpellier and Béziers , representing 50% of the amount of 2023-2024 studies. This political and financial support will continue for the rest of the project. The high-speed line will in fact extend the Mediterranean corridor, connecting the countries of Western Europe to the countries of Central Europe. "This major structuring project will make it possible to develop everyday trains, bring our region closer to Paris and Spain, develop rail freight and reduce the number of trucks on the A9 motorway" , indicated Carole Delga.

#OCCITANIE –In the third quarter of 2023, this is the percentage of the active population in Occitanie that was unemployed. Indeed, the Occitanie region still shows an increase in the number of job seekers. Its unemployment rate thus remains higher than that of the rest of France. Job applications also increased by 0.3% compared to the previous quarter. That is, 543,800 job seekers registered with Pôle emploi in categories A (without activity), B and C. Unemployment among young people under 25 has increased further: + 1% (+ 2.8% over one year) .

Citizen fight for Fernando

A teenager hit by a train

#TARN-ET-GARONNE – A 14-year-old girl died when hit by a train in front of her friends. The drama took place on the evening of Friday January 19 at Albias station, in Tarn-et-Garonne. Like the other travelers, the young girl had to cross the railway tracks to reach the main station building. But while a first group was able to pass without problem, the teenager did not have time to cross before the passage of the Intercités which linked Paris and Toulouse arriving at full speed. "According to the first findings of our teams, which remain to be confirmed by the judicial investigation, the safety device consisting of sound and light alarms operated normally", assures the SNCF to La Dépêche du Midi. The driver of the Intercités train was questioned and an investigation was opened.
