The trawler had an engine failure 25 nautical miles off the coast of Sète. The SNSM initiated an emergency tow.
The SNSM lifeboat was deployed 25 nautical miles off the coast of Sète (approximately 50 km) this Monday, October 7, 2024 to get as close as possible to a trawler in distress. The alert was given at around 11am this morning. There were no injuries among the crew of the Sète vessel. It was apparently a fault with the engine that forced the sailors to call for help.
Sea entries
The impressive sea entries observed since the beginning of the day make the maneuvers more delicate for the volunteer rescuers who will operate at reduced speed on the return journey. The rescuers should be back in Sète in the afternoon.
