A “Trek towards employment” to promote inclusion in Béziers

For its premiere, the “Trek towards employment” was a success in Béziers. Midi Libre – Rodrigue Delpas

Thursday May 23, under the leadership of Apsh 34, four job seekers went to approach employers in Béziers.

This Thursday, May 23, at 9:30 a.m., a small group met at the foot of the Titan fountain, at the plateau of Poets of Béziers. Accompanied by their advisors, four women embark on a "Trek towards employment".

"At Apsh 34 (the association for people with disabilities), we wanted to take action across all our services, explains Nicolas Haddadi, head service at the ATE (transversal axis of employment). So we imagined the action "Trek towards employment" by integrating several people looking for work."

A month’s preparation

Initially, there were six of them, but only four were present this Thursday, the other two having found jobs in the meantime. "The preparation lasted a month, under the leadership of Stella Mende, coordinator of the ATE, explains Nicolas Haddadi. We prepared them on eloquence, on the presentation pitch, particularly for their disability. They also did some physical activity."

A program which was of great use to them: "This allowed us to re-mobilize ourselves in the face of the search for more information. job, advance Raïssa Balhi, 43 years old, just looking for a job. I find that as a team, we are stronger. Seeing other profiles, exchanging ideas, it’s less daunting. I think that I, alone, would not have been able to do this canvassing. The idea is to no longer position yourself as a job seeker, but as a service provider."

Looking for an alternation

This morning, the profiles are very different from one job seeker to another. "I am looking for an employer who would like to take me on a work-study basis, says Marianne Nègre, 46 years old. I got a place at the CFA Nicolas Albano in Sète. To continue my project, I need to find a position in pastry making."

And for the day, the schedule is busy. "We decided to divide ourselves into two groups, one will go to the city center, the other to the Polygon. Then, after the lunch break, we will exchange zones, smiles Nicolas Haddadi. They gave themselves a goal: to beat the advisors, we'll see if they succeed."

And the motivation is there, the job seekers immediately set off. A CV left at the Cristal bakery, then in a snack bar, two steps further. The morning is busy.

A system which is likely to be renewed in the future, and expanded throughout Hérault, the territory covered by Apsh 34.
