A truck driver who stole from his colleagues arrested by the gendarmes of the Grand-Gallargues motorway platoon

Les faits sont survenus samedi 13 janvier lors d'une surveillance sur l'aire d'Ambrussum près de Lunel.

This Saturday, January 13, the Grand-Gallargues motorway squad arrested a truck driver suspected of stealing his colleagues' fuel payment cards. It was during the surveillance of the Ambrussum service areas, in Lunel, on the A9 motorway, that the attention of the military was drawn to the chauffeur. The latter, before being checked, got off the road tractor before running away.

But he was found a few minutes later behind the wheel of his own truck. According to the gendarmes, he broke into the first truck in order to steal the cards used to pay for fuel.

Summons to court

The search of his truck revealed that he had in his possession more than forty maps of various oil tankers. Some were even stolen at the end of last year. A sum of money was seized as well as equipment to modify the encoding of the magnetic strips of the cards. Copies resold to other truck drivers.

At the end of his custody, the driver was summoned to appear before the Montpellier court for March 2024.
