Amateur rugby: “We are growing the club without being obsessed with the first team”, at RC Jacou, rugby is experienced as a family

De g. à d. : Christine, Olivier Milles (coprésident RCJacou), Julie, Christian, Marie-Charlotte et Augustin.

While his first team has validated a historic rise in Federal 2, his reserve team is in the last square of Excellence B, focus on RC Jacou and the Milles family, in the oven and at the mill in the club of the suburbs of Montpellier.

Freshly qualified for the promotion to Federal 2 and on the eve of his round of 16, Jacou relies on a family spirit which has surely made him successful: "I told the players that they had a magic wand capable of making people capsize, explains Olivier Milles, assisted by Anne- Sophie Segonzac. From these epics arise vocations of volunteers, actors of this game."

The Jacoumarde lineage is, for Marie-Charlotte, a whole concept :"We include players in our family circle. Ten years ago, when Olivier and I arrived at the club, we had just gotten married, he seemed like an older player, we were mentoring young people who were now sponsors of the club. Our son Augustin, five years old, calls them his friends! Being in our place means taking care of others because they are an integral part of our lives."

In photography, the mother, Christine, feeds on these links: "I am fascinated to see to what extent talented young people in communication can sublimate the simple material that I provided. They make me rediscover my own photos because I am just a mother who photographs her children."

Fraternity in heredity

Nostalgic, the dad, Christian, known for his festive Baby Rugby entertainment alongside his daughter Julie, recognizes with tenderness: "This group makes me wish I was thirty years younger to join them! We are happy for them, but especially with them. It’s this supporter side that pushed us to get involved, to play for Julie, then to coach together."

"What matters to me, continues Julie, it’is ;rsquo;help my brother carry out his projects, as we saw our father and grandfather do before us. Now, it is for this group that we want to succeed, for their game and the welcome they give to everyone. "

An unplanned move up to F2 but the feasibility of which was evident: "We are growing the club without being obsessed with the idea; first team, concludes Olivier Milles, because we have eighteen categories that we claim. Growth is certainly linear, but the rise is coming sooner than expected. It’it is surely this non-objective which fueled an enormous but natural commitment."
