American Football: The Nîmes Centurions in the spotlight after their title of French D3 Champion

À l’occasion du nouveau titre de champion de France de Division 3 des Centurions, équipe de football américain, la Ville de Nîmes a organisé une cérémonie en leur honneur.
After the victory of the Centurions in the national final against the Quarks of Villebon Longjumeau (31-7), the Nîmes team won the silver helmet, title of champion of France in Division 3. For this occasion, the Nîmes elected officials were keen to congratulate them this Wednesday, July 3, in the premises of the Town Hall.
Mayor Jean-Paul Fournier made a point of recalling the city's sporting challenges and commitments: "Nîmes is a sporting land, I am very attached to the sports teams and our equipment, I congratulate you on your victory!"
Through this ceremony he also presented the city's medal to Bernard Eldin, president of the club since 2014 who recently gave up his place to David Benssoussan to retire.

For Nicolas Rainville, deputy delegate for Sports, it is all the more a source of pride, he who knows the sporting world well since he is, in addition to his role of elected official, professional football referee: "It’s a source of pride for the people of Nîmes to welcome them to the Town Hall in this great year of the Olympic Games. Above all, I am a supporter of all the Nîmes sports associations, because we know that it is complicated to unite with volunteers. I am the first happy for them, they will always have the municipality as a partner and supporter& nbsp;!".
He also wishes to express recognition of their effort: "We know that the high level is played with details and perspiration, thanks to their solidarity and work, they become great ambassadors of this sport and of the city !".
"The city of Nîmes is prone to lots of nuggets"
Jean-Philippe Eldin, coach of the Centurions since 2017, is very proud of their journey: "The city has supported us for many years, it's 3-4 years we've been fighting to get our team out of the water, we're finally getting there and the city of Nîmes is subject to lots of nuggets!"
For the players, it’s an honor to be received by the city for their victory. Particularly for Thomas Etheve: "Even our minor sport is recognized by the city, it has ambition for us, we hope to be welcomed every year for our future victories& ;nbsp;!"
For next season the team hopes to remain in the second division and thus continue to make its young people perform.
