After Virginie and Jef left, Bar Nabu is managed by Eric, Maggie and Marylin. The trio has no shortage of ideas to bring the place to life.

This Friday, September 13, Bar Nabu organized its return with an event evening. It is a new beginning for the Nabuchodonosor collective that has been running the associative bar on Place Saint-Cyr for over a decade.

Indeed, the founding couple, Virginie and Jef, left Béziers to live in Brittany. They left the management of the place to three friends and regulars: Maggie, Éric and Marylin. “It had been planned for a long time with Jef and Virginie”, Éric explains. “Last season, we had already joined the office and set up 80% of the programming.”

“It went smoothly, Maggie confirms. We took over quietly. There's just more work and we find ourselves doing everything Jef used to do.”

From 6:30 p.m. on Friday, regulars came one after the other to the counter to renew their membership cards. Cards with a collector's look because they came in six designs and four different colors. The creations of the French-Quebec artist, Pierre Cornudet. He is, in fact, the first guest of the new team for the opening of an exhibition of large-format paintings. The musical atmosphere was provided by DJ Guila'Selecta.

"We are taking over the association with the same principle of creating social ties by offering cultural activities. It is important to make this space rich in encounters last. There are people who have spoken to no one but us during the day", Maggie emphasizes. “We will stay open on Fridays, from 6:30 p.m. to 11 p.m. We will try to always have an activity to offer, not to be just a bar where you can come and drink.”

The team is already working on new projects. “We will stop the film club on Tuesdays”, announces Éric. “On Fridays, we will regularly organize evenings where we will invite associations to allow them to present their cause. This will be an opportunity to create a network. We will also set up storytelling evenings”, adds Maggie. The first will take place on September 27. Another project, an Occitan evening. “We are open to everyone. If someone has a project, they can propose it to us. We validate, we assist, but we let the person manage, we will not tell them what to do”, concludes Eric.
