A peine les Jeux olympiques finis, les Lions clubs Nîmes Doyen et Saint-Hilaire-de-Brethmas prolongent l'expérience avec une soirée dédiée au sport de haut niveau, le mardi 8 octobre prochain.

While the Paris 2024 Olympic Games are still on everyone's minds, the Lions clubs Nîmes Doyen and Saint-Hilaire-de-Brethmas are organizing an exceptional event on Tuesday, October 8.

Sports clubs and Olympic medalists expected

Indeed, within the CGR of Nîmes, we will discuss high-level sport, how to manage the post-career and of course, the Olympic Games, with an unmissable guest when we talk about these great quadrennial moments, in the person of Nelson Monfort. “THE” emblematic voice of France Télévisions and sports interviews will be there to discuss his experience. In front of an audience that already promises to be prestigious, since the majority of Nîmes sports clubs (handball, rugby, archery, judo, sitting volleyball, etc.), with the exception of Nîmes Olympique for the time being, have already confirmed their participation. Of course, the medallists from the Gard at the Paris Olympic Games were also approached, such as judoka Shirine Boukli, as well as young high-level retirees such as multiple medallist Mickaël Guigou, gymnast Ludivine Furnon and former footballer Patrick Cubaynes.

“Few athletes think about their post-career”

For the host and journalist Nelson Monfort, this type of exchange is an opportunity for a conference-debate and an opportunity to share his “enthusiasm, his positivity about sport”, but also to talk about the post-career, a subject that is sometimes delicate to consider for athletes at the top of their game: “Few do it, confirms Nelson Monfort. I had the opportunity to speak at football clubs such as AJ Auxerre or FC Metz and I really realized that athletes live in the present moment, which they want to prolong as much as possible, sometimes to the detriment of the aftermath, which sometimes even scares them."

It should be noted that this conference-debate initiated by the Lions clubs Nîmes Doyen and Saint-Hilaire-de-Brethmas opens the series of Belles rencontres desired by the two entities, which will punctuate the year with meetings around social issues, always in the presence of personalities remarkable.

Conference-debate hosted by Jean-François Boyer in partnership with Midi Libre, in the presence of Nelson Monfort, on Tuesday, October 8, from 7 p.m. at the CGR in Nîmes (avenue de la Méditerranée). Price: 20 euros (45 euros with the cocktail dinner). Information and reservations, at 06 08 76 92 53 or 06 84 16 13 60.
