Anger of farmers: update on traffic conditions on Friday January 26 on the roads of Gard

The blocking of the A9 motorway since this Thursday, January 25 in the morning by angry Gard farmers has led, in turn, to a saturation of the secondary network in Nîmes and its surrounding area.

The situation is not expected to improve on Friday January 26 on the Gard road network, particularly in the Nîmes region, with the A9 motorway as well as the A54 blocked.

The Gard gendarmes, already mobilized in the morning, are preparing to spend the night securing the roads to avoid accidents and incidents.

Certain axes, such as the crossing of Nîmes at the level of Boulevard Allende (notably at Km Delta), were particularly saturated with heavy goods vehicles which, not being able to circulate on the A9, pass through the same axes which are not calibrated for absorb such a flow.  In the prefecture, there was talk of very slow traffic again last night around 6:30 p.m.

Crisis unit

This will be the case again this Friday when crossing Nîmes with an impact also on the Tango public transport network. The prefect of Gard Jérôme Bonet also asks motorists to postpone travel “as much as possible”.

Advice that is all the more reasonable as Hérault farmers have decided to carry out large-scale actions this Friday, January 26… Which will add saturation to the network.

Within the crisis unit installed at the Gard prefecture, it was indicated this Thursday evening that truck drivers could also choose to use the coastal roads, Chemin des Canals, in Petite Camargue, road axes here too which are not designed for such traffic.
