Anger of farmers: why do we see many demonstrators wearing yellow caps at blockade points ?

They have been accompanying farmers to the various blockage points since the start of the movement: these are not tractors but rather yellow caps. But why are these demonstrators wearing hats of this color ?

You may have noticed: many farmers present at the blockade points wear yellow caps on their heads, which are reminiscent of yellow vests. But do you know why ?

First, on their caps, two letters are written: C and R, this corresponds to the initials of the Rural Coordination, an agricultural union very present in the Lot -et-Garonne and in Gers, two departments which have experienced strong mobilization of farmers since the start of the movement. The color yellow then seems to be a way of making the union's actions more visible and recognizable.

"A sign of revolt"

Already in 2013, many demonstrators covered in red caps protested in Brittany against the ecotax on heavy goods vehicles recall Les Echos.. Five years later, the yellow vests appeared and became the symbol of the fight against the rise in fuel prices. Finally, if we go back to 2017, during a demonstration against the rise in the price of wheat, we already saw yellow caps screwed on the heads of farmers. With winter these caps transformed into beanies.

"This is a sign of revolt and we encourage all farmers to join us on these blocking points", indicates the president of Rural Coordination, Véronique Le Floc'h, at the microphone of Échos. Members of the Rural Coordination will also be present in Paris this Monday for the blockade of the capital.
